The PattyCake Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (founded 2020) and partner organization dedicated to feeding the homeless and other marginalized communities with homemade meals by teaching others how to cook! The Foundation is named after Patricia Diaz-Perez, the mother of our Founder Gabriel Antonio Perez, who passed away in 2019 following a battle with cancer. “Patty” taught Gabriel to cook when he was a child, and she always emphasized the importance of giving back to the less fortunate in his community, whom she could empathize with having grown up as the daughter of immigrants. She believed that cooking can be a connecting experience filled with love and community. Thus The Foundation was created in honor of Patty's legacy and compassion, where we now teach others how to cook to provide homemade meals so we can come together with our homeless neighbors in our community.

The Foundation’s secondary mission is to entertain children in local hospitals. From experiences with his older brother and younger sister, and his experience with his own mom in the hospital, our Founder saw the importance of having positive role models that were around his age and has witnessed some of the struggles of patients staying in the hospital. We understand the scary situation that children in the hospital are in, and we strongly encourage our volunteers to be those bigger brothers and sisters to them during their personal battles. We host activities to hand-make toys and other fun accessories for the kids, and dedicate time either in-person or virtually to play with them.
